Although, I was not able to receive any feedback from, the “International Organizations” which I chose, it was an honor and privilege to learn and read about childhood field for my professional and personal development is:

1.     Learning of resources surrounding your community one is able to be an advocate to homeless individuals and family and children in Poverty. This can be done by directing them to local places in your such as; Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), provides Snap program (Food Stamps), help parents with going back to school and  receive their GED due to not getting a High School Diploma  and a Way to Work program to better themselves and their children. Illinois Lutheran Child & Family Services provides shelter for the homeless and families with children help you seek employment and help one find low income housing.

2.     The second consequence was quality. In the in the Early Childhood Field. Teachers and Centers and Home Daycares must further their

education by enrolling in workshop programs, attending meetings

and conferences to help perfect the children’s development and growth and development.

3. The third consequence was changing demographics in the United States and communication / language.

          My goal for the field related to international awareness of issues and trends and the spirit of collegial relations is to continue to be an advocate to children and their parents by, being a qualified professional in the early childhood field and providing Quality learning to all children in my care, well as keep parents inform about growth and development of their child’s learning I’m providing. Providing “Quality” learning allows all children to become lifelong learners.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 2

Dear Blog Readers,

          I’ve sent several emails to my “International Contacts (Africa & Europe), and still know response. Therefore, I viewed Harvard University’s “Global Children’s Initiative website ((http://developingchild.harvard.edu/initiatives/global_initiative/). I chose to view CHNIA: ASSESSING CHILD MENTAL   HEALTH   NEEDS IN SHANGHAI. The Shanghai Mental Health Center’s Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry（DCAP）was founded in 1986.The department includes child and adolescent outpatient clinic and a child behavior research center. Since 2001, DCAP has been one of the key departments of Shanghai mental health center in 2006. DCAP also provides services which examine the social environment the child and family inhabits. These services include:

 1. Evaluation and general guidance regarding mental health for the children at the kindergarten, primary, and secondary school levels.

 2. Community education in most suburbs of Shanghai city regarding the science behind child and adolescent mental health. DCAP was approved as an ADHD health education base in China by the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China and is also able to provide significant support for to other training centers in Shanghai for the diagnosis and treatment of autism and mental retardation.

          Assessing children’s needs early with prevent him / her lacking in their skills. I say this because, I have a male cousin 19 years old and went off to college in a world of his on, and could not adapt. Yes, he was diagnosed with ADHD / ADD but, when both parents are in strong dial it present a problem.

In conclusion, Parents need to take the time and have assessments and health screening done for your children.

Beyond the Word Gap:

 The article speaks on how “Babies develop language and literacy skills through everyday interactions with parents, family, and caregivers, and the number one way is to nurture all aspects of your  baby’s development! I chose this article due to I have twin nieces (who are sisters) experiencing motherhood for the very first time at age 25 years old. This information enlightens us of the importance of communication.

I would like to take this opportunity to share the latest news from a newsletter which, I receive from the website ZERO TO THREE.  First of all ZERO TO THREE is an nonprofit organization which, is geared to help parents, professionals well as policymakers on the importance of nurturing children as they develop, and there mission is “to ensure that all babies and toddlers have a strong start in Life”. While searching for topics I came across:  BEYOIND THE WORD GAP Language and learning Develop in Context of Early Relationships.  In the article it states the “Word Gap” is said to “Symbolize the gulf which, can separate very young child who have rich opportunities for a positive early learning experiences form those who do not”. To close the gap babies are driven to communicate with a trusted adult to let them know how one feels, think and their needs. In other words it’s about developing strong communication skills with caregivers, parents, and other family members. Also, as children’s language skills become stronger it builds their self – confidence and self – esteem which, in return it  brings on babies building close “nurturing relationships with he trusted adult  adults, which encourage babies to communicating.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts Part – 1

 

          I had the pleasure of having a conversation with one of my church mothers whose form Senegal, and her name is Ybaye Ayokunle. Ybaye move from Senegal in 2009 to support her 4 children and better herself.  Ybaye said, “Before moving to the United States she had to hustle by selling scarfs, pan – handle to buy food for her children, and sell water”. This was to help pay bills and send her children to school. There was also, many shared meals with they had while living in Senegal. When moving to the United States Ybaye mention how life had begun to change for her family such as; she was able to receive Public Aide, Housing, find better  Schools and each child wasn’t going to separate school, and a job to support her family. Today Ybaye is working on her BA Degree at one of the Universities here in Chicago.

I’m very proud of her due to Ybaye s because, she didn’t give up and did what was needed to serve and protect her family.

The organization which peak my interest was "The Global Alliance For The Education OF Young
Children" (http://www.naeyc.org/resources/paternship/globalalliance). I have sent 2 emails and still no response. NAEYC provides an high - quality of learning for children from birth to 8 years old. Also, NAEYC supports all diverse cultures and support all who care for educating on behalf of young children. I chose NAEYC due to they support the following:

1. Respect the dignity and uniqueness of each individual child and their family members,

and colleagues.

     2.  Recognize children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that
are based on trust and respect.

     3.  Recognize children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community, and society.

NAEYC provides excellent training classes for Early Childhood Professional and with that being said, I will continue to reach by sending another email, and if no response by next week I will
be will to change.

ESTABLINGS CONTACTS OUTSIDED THE UNITED STATES

I’ve taken several workshops under “NAEYC” given in Chicago, IL. Therefore, I decide to subscribe to the following countries which are Africa & Europe under the “Global Alliance” For The Education Of Young Children”. I have phone them and sent an email to webmaster@naeyc.org .

The Global Alliance for the Education of Young Children provides an “opportunity for early childhood associations from countries throughout the world to distribute materials and share information about programs and services, so that members of the participating organizations will have access to a greater range of early childhood resources”.

Also, for the last 3 years to present I’m receiving information from Zero To Three. They email me once or twice a week with keep me abreast about the development of our children we serve.
