Quotes From Week 2 Media Segment

Louise Derman - Sparks passion was "Making sure all children were taught in a
environment that nurtured their ability to grow, and develop in their fullest ability.
Having a environment that is equip with the necessary tools will meet the
needs of all children.

Renatta M. Cooper told us "It's not all about you!  You have to take your ego out
of it and think about what's best for the child".
This is true because, their are some early childhood professionals that go on an
ego trip and stop focusing on the children.  As an early childhood professional one
needs to drop their situation at their front door and put the children and their families
first.  We are here to help parents meet the need of their child / children.

Raymond Hermandez :  "I'm not here to save the world, I'm here to make a difference
in the community that I'm working in".

Sandy Escobido  states "We as professionals in the early childhood field have opportunities
to shape the child's lives for the better".

Leticia Lara

Parent's need support, resources with an access to resources, parents can thrive".

Parent's know that we support their children's needs, and have access to resource
which, can help in meeting their children's need, and they do thrive on it.  It
reminds me of the 4 year old that's still wetting on himself.  I suggest to the
mom going to see an Physician due to the problem was overwhelming.

FAMILIES BY : ANN MORRIS

I chose the book “Families” by Ann Morris.  Children come from all walks of life and need to know someone in their families have his / her interest at heart and love them.  This may include the mother and father, aunt / uncle, stepparents, and their grandparents. You may ask the question after reading the story “Who’s raising you”?  I did and most of my students are 4 & 5 ye. old and live with their grandparents.  This is where I see and learn their family values, how one is being nurtured and culture.

PROVERBS 22:6

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.

Saying these words brings a chill over me; because parents of today have let respect and the training of their child / children go a stray from their homes.  If, we read this passage it has a meaning for our children and their parents.  The meaning is a child’s “Home where they receive their learning first and it spreads abroad through school and their daily lives.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HYGIENE

THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL HYGIENE I found this article to be very interesting for caregivers / provides that have infant / preschoolers and toddlers in their care. Due to some parents believe their child / children are too young for to get their teeth brushed. Bacteria and decay begins to exist soon when, and infants teeth breaks through his / her gums. Parents should start caring for their child / children’s soon as they see teeth appear. As you notice your infant spouting their teeth use a cloth or wrap a piece of gauze around your finger, and choose an infant appropriate toothpaste. Also, massage around the gums with a soft tooth brush. This can be done before your son / daughter falls asleep. Another way to prevent tooth decay is never allow infants to fall asleep with a bottle of milk / juice. What happens is “sugar from the milk and juices pools up conducive for bacterial growth and decay”. Another thing parents should avoid doing is dipping the babies teething ring in juices, and this “exposes the teeth to acid which, will attack and cause decay in newly formed teeth. Listed below are books on “Dental Hygiene” parents can read to their children, and a website with activities for caregivers and provides to use in their curriculum.
