Getting
to Know Your International Contacts Part – 1
I had the pleasure of having a
conversation with one of my church mothers whose form Senegal, and her name is
Ybaye Ayokunle. Ybaye move from Senegal in 2009 to support her 4 children and
better herself. Ybaye said, “Before
moving to the United States she had to hustle by selling scarfs, pan – handle
to buy food for her children, and sell water”. This was to help pay bills and
send her children to school. There was also, many shared meals with they had
while living in Senegal. When moving to the United States Ybaye mention how
life had begun to change for her family such as; she was able to receive Public
Aide, Housing, find better Schools and
each child wasn’t going to separate school, and a job to support her family.
Today Ybaye is working on her BA Degree at one of the Universities here in
Chicago.
I’m very
proud of her due to Ybaye s because, she didn’t give up and did what was needed
to serve and protect her family.
